Where would you start? Well I can start by saying it is off the hooks, I was going to get a HD 7990; but then for the simple fact its a power hungry dual GPU graphics card I decided to get this beast instead, although the 7990 will perform in some games marginally better, I would still go with this just because if in the future I decided too (which I'm sure I will) I would buy a second Titan for SLI and just keep at it for a while. Overall a brilliant product, as I'm sure anybody else would agree with me who owns one of these beasts.

The GTX Titan is nVidias latest salvo in the single GPU battle between themselves and AMD. The Titan has been highly anticipated for some time now, and I've been very much looking forward to getting my hand on one (well, three) to play with for some time.
So what makes the Titan such a big deal? Well NVIDIA claim that this is the most powerful GPU on the market, and AMD have nothing to fight back with; in fact AMD have announced that they will not be launching any new technology until 2014 and all of this years releases will be based on last years GPUs. Bad news for AMD and for consumers alike as it appears that nVidia will have things their own way for a while.
Inside, the titan packs some impressive scores utilising the latest 28nm fabrication process. It features 6GB GDDR5 memory, adapts 2688 CUDA cores has 7.1 billion transistors and runs at a speed of 837MHz boosting to 876MHz.
This means the GTX Titan is fast, very fast, comfortably faster than the older GTX 680 and in some cases only a hair behind the GTX 690 (If nVidia produce a dual-core Titan it's going to be incredible).
Gigabyte's version of the Titan is based on the nVidia reference design with value added by the usual extras kinds of extras, typical with high end cards.
Included with the card is an MP8000 gaming mouse mat and a separate box with a quick start guide, a pair of power adaptor cables, a driver CD, VGA adapter, a HDMI lead and curiously, a pack of branded cards (why you would play cards instead of games is a mystery).
Gigabytes Titan has the standard, gorgeous GTX 690 thermal solution which is very effective, though the Gigabyte card seems quite a bit quieter than other reference versions so far. It looks like the fan is a little different to other version, giving a plus point to the Gigabyte card over some other versions.
In use and under load, the card can become *very* hot, right up to 80 degrees in fact, this though is by design. The card is optimised to give as much power as possible without going over 80 degrees centigrade.
Over-clocking is also very possible with the Gigabyte card, in testing I've been able to get a boost of about 15% on air alone, I can hardly wait to try these with water cooling.
In summary then, the GeForce GTX Titan is unquestionably the post powerful single GPU card money can buy, though that power comes at a price. It's a shame that AMD will not be releasing anything to compete for another year or so, but until then, nVidia will remain the undisputed performance king.
