If you've researched your graphics cards for any length of time, this is one that comes up often in the price/performance ratio conversation (and for good reason). It's a raging juggernaut of a card; physically huge with performance to match. You will probably need a full-sized tower to install this 11" long monolith.

Don't think however that I'm knocking this card based on the above. The size is more than made up for by the its exceptional properties; it requires only around 300W from one 6-pin and one 8-pin connector, stays remarkably cool under load, and plays virtually any game you can imagine at fully maxed settings (60+fps) in 1080p. It has a very wide 384-bit memory bus, full PCI Express 3.0 compatibility, 3GB of memory for large texture support, and has ample headroom for easy overclocking using either the Catalyst Control Centre or Sapphire's Trixx OC application.

This solidly hits the bulls-eye when considering the cost/performance equation, and scales well should you decide to pick up another one for a Crossfire configuration down the road. Consider me as pleased as punch.

Would I have bought a HD7950 for £350+ when they first came out? Probably not. For £230 though it is an abslute steal. I have had a few Sapphire cards over the years and they have always been very good. Cool and very quiet and (if you are into such things) it overclocks very well. If you use a single monitor this is really all the card you need, I can recommend it wholeheartedly. Just be sure you have a decent power supply and, because it is a reasonable size, enough space in your case for it to fit.

This is by far the most expensive graphics card I've ever purchased, coming from an MSI cyclone OC PE HD 6850 (great card) which cost less than half this, I wanted a slice of the 'High End' and this card delivers it.

Excellent cooling, solid build quality, great looks (imo) and *though this varies between cards*, seems to overclock very well on stock volts, I pushed it to 1150/1400 instantly via CCC (+20% power setting) and it seems to be rock steady and the temps have barely budged! It can probably go further...another day. That is without overvolting via Sapphire Trixx or suchlike.

It's hugely quieter than my old graphics card mentioned, With my OC, fans never went past 41%, GPU temp never exceeded 58 under any load I've put on it (GW2 utterly maxed out (super-sampling too), Heaven Benchmark - which looks incredible on this!) And VRMs stayed under 65c, etc. My ambient temps are quite cool.

Certainly recommended...

Amazing card. Never goes past 60C even when overclocked. Plays every game at the highest settings :D. MAke sure you have at least a 500w power supply plus it requires two 8 pin connectors but it does comes with adaptors any way. Also Crossfire cable is included so comes in handy if you plan on buying another one of theses cards in the future.

I bought this card 2 weeks ago and have to say it is pretty good. I haven't overclocked it, but it runs BF3 on max settings at around 50-60fps. Assassins Creed 3 fluctuates 60fps to 30fps back to 60fps, but I think that may just be the drivers aren't fully up and running yet.

The second best bit about this card is the fact it stays cooler than my previous 6870. Running Furmark for 30 mins it struggled to get to 63 degrees C.When playing Battlefield it runs for an hour at around 56 degrees C. AC3 at around 52.

It definitely has plenty of room to overclock to a stock 7970 standard and is highly praised for that ability, I just don't need to at this time as it runs perfectly for what I need it for.

I would suggest this card but the card is about 1/5 bigger than a 6870. Doesn't sound much but in a small desktop case, it matters. It would not have fitted in my old PC case so just beware if you buy this that it is a big beast of a card.

Requires 1 6pin PCI connection and 1 8pin from your PSU to power it so make sure you have those. Also I would suggest a PSU of 600w or above.

Ok here goes.
Temperature wise it sits at about 30c and under load it reaches about 45c.
I only have a 1360 x 768 T.V so can't comment on true high def but at this res on my Sony Bravia it just eats up any game I have thrown at it.
Assassins Creed 3, Hitman Absolution, Far Cry 3, Black Ops 2, Battlefield 3 ( online, high not ultra. Offline Ultra settings.)
All games set at max settings for my resolution.
Great card at a great price.

I have been running my single vapor x 7950 for about 3 months now at a daily o/c of 1175mhz core and 1375mhz mem with no issues! I have found that there is no noticeable gain with the memory clock any higher than 1375 but can go to 1575 with ease where my only concerrn is that vrm temps get to 81C. At my daily setting, core temps barely reach 65C max with vrm temps at a comfortable 61C, and am able to run Crysis 3 at a steady 60fps at 1080p with maxed settings, Battlefield 3 returns an average 85fps on ultra! This card is the best of the 7950's in my experience, I have tried powercolor and xfx before exchanging under warranty for this sapphire and haven't looked back! I have an i5 3570K @ 4.2ghz and 8gb corsair extreme 1600mhz to sccompsny this gpu and so far have not experienced any throttling or bottlenecking, so my final thoughts are that this card should easily last un-crossfired until I should be able to pick up another for >£100, but who knows, maybe the new 9970 that is yet to be released will be in the £300 range by the time I'll need to upgrade. I recommend this card to anybody who is looking for a great card at a great price afterall, mine overclocked performs slightly faster than a stock 7970ghz! What are you waiting for, buy one and see for yourself!!
